Facilities and Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Associate: Temp to Permanent Hire

We are searching for a Facilities and EH&S Associate. This highly motivated individual will report to the Manager of HR Operations. The incumbent will be an active player/coach who is responsible for the daily operations of facilities, EH&S, and general office maintenance, including maintaining the necessary compliance with government regulations and corporate policies. This role requires the incumbent to be onsite Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm.

Key Responsibilities:

Facilities

  • Primary point of contact for facilities operations: maintenance, security, site mail, corporate supplies, janitorial, and alarm response
  • Primary point of contact for safety and security requirements for the facility, including badge access for employees and visitors
  • Develop and author SOPs for all processes
  • Coordinate tenant improvements
  • Interface with various government agencies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations for the company facilities
  • Interface with property management
  • Coordinate installation of equipment and systems to efficiently service the organization for its functioning needs
  • Administration of daily shipping and receiving duties, including reception
  • Coordinate with leaders and vendors to manage setup of companywide meeting spaces and equipment

EH&S

  • Improve EH&S workplace performance by promoting a positive safety culture, identify and mitigate EH&S risk and implement safety and environmental management systems in accordance with regulations, corporate compliance policies and standards
  • Coordinate the hazardous waste program vendor activities and waste flows
  • Guide and direct departments toward compliance with local, state and federal safety and environmental regulations, and corporate compliance polices
  • Responsible for coordination of third-party environmental and occupational health and safety consultants and related program activities
  • Administration of data, training, recordkeeping, and internal and external reporting related to EH&S
  • Coordinate environmental and safety auditing program, provide reports, and recommend and implement corrective actions
  • Review, investigate and implement action plans for all work-related injuries, illnesses, accidents, and safety concerns

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience within a highly regulated environment with responsibilities for Facilities, Maintenance & EH&S in a biotech, pharma or life sciences company
  • Experience coordinating facilities and EH&S policies, standards, and programs in a biotech, pharma, or life sciences company
  • Compliance oriented mindset with demonstrated competence in responding to challenges and maintaining critical documentation
  • Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health and safety regulations
  • Proficient in MS Office, including Excel and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable

 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to move self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs or manipulate 150 lbs or more
  • Able to sit, walk, stand for extended periods of time, climb and descend ladders, bend, crouch and kneel
  • Able to push, pull, reach overhead and at/below shoulder level
  • Able to grasp, hold, pinch and otherwise use hands and fingers to manipulate
  • Able to communicate verbally, hear and distinguish speech and other sounds such as alarms
  • Able to see up close, including computer screen, as well as up to 20 feet
